Putting the Team Together

February 21, 2018

It has been really cool to see how God has worked over the past few months. As a staff, we have prayed that God would send us the right Ambassadors that we are supposed to use as a mission team in penetrating the baseball world with the Gospel this summer. We have been overwhelmed with the amount of responses that we have gotten from players that are wanting to be a part of the Ambassadors this year! It has been a blessing! I only wish that we could accept every applicant, but obviously, we only have 20 spots to be filled.

1 Corinthians 12:12-14

12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit. 14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

Although this passage is a place in the Bible where Paul is talking about the use of spiritual gifts in the church, I think it is very applicable to a baseball team.

Each player that will play for us has a unique set of gifts and abilities, both on and off the field. God has equipped each player to succeed that may be different than anyone else on the team. For this reason, we will be a complete team. If we just had a team full of pitchers, then we wouldn’t be very successful. If we had a team full of lead-off hitters, we wouldn’t be very successful. We need to fill each position.

The same goes with the person that we are putting on the team. Not the baseball player, but the person. Each person has a unique set of gifts for speaking, engaging, communicating, and explaining the Gospel to people. Where one of our players may be really successful in explaining the Gospel to a group of kids in Nicaragua, another may be very good at explaining the Gospel to a team that we play in Milwaukee. Both are needed!

For this reason, we have been praying for God to send us the perfect combination of guys whose God-given talents and abilities will perfectly fit together in order to be the most effective we can be in spreading the Gospel. This will be our team!

How can you use your gifts and talents and abilities in a way that others cannot when spreading the Gospel? How did God create you in a unique way that only you can do what you are called to do?

Find your uniqueness and use it to spread the Word of God around the world!
